Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026.
MortgageCalculatorPlus.com is operated by ARSIDIAN LLC. This policy describes how we create and maintain calculator explanations, mortgage guides, glossary entries, state pages, and other educational content. We are not a lender, mortgage broker, tax adviser, law firm, or financial-planning service.
Our editorial principles
- Accuracy: numerical claims should match the implemented formulas and cited data.
- Usefulness: content should help a reader understand a decision, an assumption, or a result rather than exist only to target a search phrase.
- Transparency: we disclose important assumptions, limitations, data dates, and the difference between an estimate and an actual offer.
- Primary sourcing: for rules, limits, statistics, and public programs, we prefer the agency or organization responsible for the information.
- Editorial independence: advertising relationships do not determine calculator results or our explanation of a topic.
Research and sourcing
We prioritize official and primary materials such as Freddie Mac, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Census Bureau, the Internal Revenue Service, and official state housing finance agencies. A secondary source may be used for context or discovery, but material eligibility rules, limits, and program terms should be checked against the responsible primary source before publication.
Time-sensitive figures should identify their period or observation date. We do not present a national market average as a personalized rate quote. Our core source categories, update notes, and calculation changes are listed on the Sources and Formula Changelog page.
Calculator review
A material calculator change is reviewed as both code and editorial content. We check the formula, units, boundary conditions, labels, default assumptions, rounding behavior, and agreement between server-rendered results and browser recalculation. Representative examples are tested against independently worked results. The public Calculator Methodology explains the main formulas and provides reproducible test cases.
We avoid labels that imply more certainty than a tool provides. For example, an amortization schedule can estimate mortgage interest paid, but it cannot determine how much interest a particular taxpayer may deduct.
Content workflow
- Define the user question and the scope of the page.
- Collect current primary sources and record any relevant data vintage.
- Draft in plain language, separating facts from assumptions and examples.
- Check links, calculations, terminology, internal consistency, and material risk disclosures.
- Publish with an update date when recency is important, and revisit when an official source or formula changes.
Authorship and accountability
ARSIDIAN LLC is accountable for content published on the Website. We do not invent author names, professional licenses, biographies, or review credentials. If an individual byline or professional review credential is displayed, it should identify a real person whose role and credentials can be substantiated. A page without an individual byline is corporate editorial content prepared under this policy; it should not be interpreted as advice from an unnamed credentialed professional.
We may use software and automated tools to assist with research organization, drafting, editing, formatting, data processing, or testing. Such tools are not treated as authoritative sources. ARSIDIAN LLC remains responsible for the published result and for checking material claims against appropriate sources.
Updates and corrections
Mortgage rates, loan limits, tax rules, agency programs, and housing statistics change on different schedules. We review affected pages when we become aware of a material change and periodically revisit time-sensitive content. An older publication date does not guarantee that every linked third-party page remains unchanged.
Confirmed errors are handled under our Corrections Policy. Material formula changes are also entered in our public changelog. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, and broken-link fixes may be made without a changelog entry when they do not change meaning.
Advertising and commercial influence
Advertising helps fund the Website, but advertisers do not set calculator formulas, alter results, select editorial conclusions, or receive a right to approve independent content before publication. Commercial placements should be distinguishable from editorial material. See our Advertising Disclosure for details.
Educational purpose
Our content and calculators provide general education and estimates. They do not account for every borrower, property, loan program, jurisdiction, or tax situation. Readers should verify important figures with the relevant lender, government agency, tax authority, insurer, HOA, or qualified professional before acting.
